“Growing up, my father encouraged me to read, but we had no electricity, and it got too dark in the evenings. So, he invested in a solar panel and battery, which we installed together. I had the honor to switch on the lights for the first time – that’s when I knew I wanted to become an electrical engineer.”

Ngatia Antony joined Wärtsilä as an Electrical Operations Engineer on the Athi River II power plant in 2014. He now leads a small team as an Electrical Supervisor, ensuring maintenance goes smoothly and his team members stay safe. The strong safety focus has enabled a zero-injury track record on the power plant.

Anthony enjoys solving problems to repair components. Even if finding a solution takes time, he never gives up. At Wärtsilä, he appreciates his colleagues’ experience and passion, as well as continuous learning opportunities.
