The Eco-friendly Wooden Bath

A factory in Seattle, USA is making wooden baths. Nathie Katzoff from NK Woodworking & Design is manufacturing wooden baths that are functional and sustainable plus look great.

Wood is not petroleum-based, casted or a refined product that involves massive amounts of energy to create. Wood is a natural material and if it is harvested and treated appropriately, it will last to forever.

NK Woodworking & Design uses FSC-certified hardwoods. The wood is recycled or reclaimed. The finished tubs are the product of a complex composite system in order to make the bathtubs functional, water resistant and able to withstand daily wear-and-tear.

Nathie Katzoff gained valuable experience doing boat restoration and reconstruction on classical wooden boats before going to a design-focused furniture business. The popularity of the bathtubs, combining his existing art skills and his love of boat building, gained momentum.

Green Building Africa promotes the need for net carbon zero buildings and cities in Africa. We are fiercely independent and encourage outlying thinkers to contribute to the #netcarbonzero movement. Climate change is upon us and now is the time to react in a more diverse and broader approach to sustainability in the built environment. We challenge architects, property developers, urban planners, renewable energy professionals and green building specialists. We also challenge the funding houses and regulators and the role they play in facilitating investment into green projects. Lastly, we explore and investigate new technology and real-time data to speed up the journey in realising a net carbon zero environment for our children.
