- Total Eren, a subsidiary of French energy giant, TotalEnergies has pledged to invest €9.4 billion in a green hydrogen and ammonia project in Morocco.
- The production of the mega hybrid facility will be based on wind and solar technology with a capacity of 10GW at a site in the Guelmim-Oued Noun region in Southern Morocco.
- Production is expected to start in 2027.
Total Eren has started development works with the approval of the Moroccan Unified Regional Investment Commission. The independent power producer is planning topographic studies on the project site, analysis of the renewable resource (wind speed and solar radiation density), as well as techno-economic studies for the building and the design of required infrastructure.

The mega project implementation would rank Morocco among the most advanced African countries in the development and production of green hydrogen.
