Sturdee Energy and Old Mutual Investment Group secure majority stake in Namibia’s largest solar PV plant

  • Old Mutual Investment Group Namibia (OMIGNAM) and Sturdee Energy Namibia have jointly acquired a 51% stake in Alten Solar Power (Hardap) (Pty) Ltd, Namibia’s largest grid-tied solar PV plant.
  • This acquisition expands Namibia’s renewable energy market and offers OMIGNAM investors the chance to participate in key infrastructure projects, driving local ownership and long-term value.

The Alten Renewable Hardap-Mariental Solar PV Park is a 45.5MW solar PV power project located in Hardap which is around 250km south of the capital, Windhoek.

The deal strengthens Namibia’s position in renewable energy, supports its climate goals, and boosts economic growth, job creation, and skills development. Sturdee Energy plans to leverage this foundation for further regional expansion and sustainable energy solutions.
