Stage 4 Load Shedding Ongoing in South Africa

Eskom has implemented Stage 4 rotational loadshedding today and they have announced that Stage 4 loadshedding will be implemented on Monday, 18 March from 09h00 to 23h00 plus on Tuesday 19 March. This is due to a shortage of capacity.

Eskom reminds its customers that loadshedding at Stage 4 is no cause for alarm as the system is being effectively controlled. Loadshedding is a highly controlled process, implemented to protect the system and to prevent a total collapse of the system or a national blackout. During Stage 4 loadshedding, approximately 80% of the country’s demand is still being met.

Eskom’s maintenance teams are working round the clock to return generation units to the electricity system.

Stage 2 calls for 2000MW, Stage 3 calls for 3000MW, and Stage 4 calls for 4000MW to be rotationally loadshed nationally at a given period.

We also challenge the funding houses and regulators and the role they play in facilitating investment into green projects. Lastly, we explore and investigate new technology and real-time data to speed up the journey in realising a net carbon zero environment for our children.
