  • Another extended deadline for South Africa’s Battery Energy Storage Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (BESIPPPP) Bid Window 3 falls due on 28 November 2024.
  • The deadline was initially extended from 31 July 2024 to 31 October 2024 which was requested from prospective bidders.
  • They cited delays at Eskom where bidders have experienced delays in securing grid-access cost estimate letters (CEL’s) that are required for bid qualification which has also cause a submission deadline extension in BESIPPPP Bid Window 2.

The department launched a third Request for Proposal (RFP) under the Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (IPPPP), calling for the procurement of 616 MW of new generation capacity from battery energy storage technologies for five storage facilities that are located within the Free State province on 28 March 2024.

Green Building Africa promotes the need for net carbon zero buildings and cities in Africa. We are fiercely independent and encourage outlying thinkers to contribute to the #netcarbonzero movement. Climate change is upon us and now is the time to react in a more diverse and broader approach to sustainability in the built environment. We challenge architects, property developers, urban planners, renewable energy professionals and green building specialists. We also challenge the funding houses and regulators and the role they play in facilitating investment into green projects. Lastly, we explore and investigate new technology and real-time data to speed up the journey in realising a net carbon zero environment for our children.
