South Africa: Load-shedding Implemented as 6 Units Trip

  • Eskom has advised that yesterday, six generation units suffered trips, while the return to service of three others has been delayed.
  •  Eskom teams are hard at work trying to return these units to service.

A generation unit each at the Majuba, Tutuka, Hendrina and Duvha power stations tripped. The return to service of a generation unit each at the Matla, Kendal and Tutuka power stations have been delayed.

Any additional breakdowns will compromise Eskom’s ability to supply the country through the peak demand period of 17:00 – 21:00. This constrained supply situation may persist for the next few days.

This publication can confirm that load shedding has been implement in some parts of Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, and Mpumalanga from 5am this morning.
