  • Russia’s Intergovernmental Russian-Namibian Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation Yury Trutnev discussed the development of bilateral trade and economic ties with President of the Republic of Namibia Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah which includes the possibility of developing nuclear energy.

The officials discussed prospects for implementing joint prospects in industry, subsurface management, geological exploration, energy, agriculture, science and education.

“No matter what major Russian company Namibia works with, it will primarily work with the Government of the Russian Federation. This is a different level of responsibility. It is important for the Government of Russia to improve our relationship and bring benefits to both countries. Jointly with the Rosatom State Corporation, one of the leading energy companies in the world, the Government of the Russian Federation is ready to continue the negotiations on expanding the possibilities of using atomic energy for peaceful purposes. We are ready to consider other proposals on cooperation in production and processing of mineral resources, science and education. Our joint work has led to the extension of the quota for training Namibian students in Russia. The world is rapidly changing. We are ready for these changes and thankful to Namibia for keeping its friendly attitude to our country,” Yury Trutnev noted.

They also discussed plans for holding the 11th meeting of the Intergovernmental Russian-Namibian Commission scheduled for Windhoek.

Green Building Africa promotes the need for net carbon zero buildings and cities in Africa. We are fiercely independent and encourage outlying thinkers to contribute to the #netcarbonzero movement. Climate change is upon us and now is the time to react in a more diverse and broader approach to sustainability in the built environment. We challenge architects, property developers, urban planners, renewable energy professionals and green building specialists. We also challenge the funding houses and regulators and the role they play in facilitating investment into green projects. Lastly, we explore and investigate new technology and real-time data to speed up the journey in realising a net carbon zero environment for our children.
