Petrodex commissions first 25MW of Mailo Solar Project in Zambia

  • In a LinkedIn post, Petrodex has announced that the Mailo Solar Plant, formerly known as Serenje Solar, has been fully energised this week, marking a major milestone in Zambiaโ€™s clean energy transition.ย 

The plant was officially renamed Mailo in recognition of the local Mailo Chiefdom and the invaluable role the community and traditional leadership have played throughout the projectโ€™s development.

With an installed capacity of 25 MW, Mailo Solar is now supplying clean, reliable power to the national grid, supporting Zambiaโ€™s growing energy needs and climate commitments. This marks the completion of Phase One of a planned 100 MW development, with construction of Phase Two commencing shortly.

This project is the foundation of a broader 400 MW solar pipeline in Zambia, underscoring the company’s ย long-term commitment to supporting the countryโ€™s energy transition through sustainable infrastructure.
