South Africa – New Minister of Energy Announces PPA Sign Off for 27 Renewable Energy Projects

The new Minister of Energy, Mr Jeff Radebe, appointed recently by President Cyril Ramaphosa , has announced that the 27 renewable energy projects from rounds 3.5 and 4 will be signed off on Tuesday 13th March 2018.

In a Trump style tweet, the new Minister, announces that the 27 projects will be signed off on the 13th March 2018. He goes on to thank stakeholders which includes the Development Bank of Southern Africa. The announcement brings an end to the two year hiatus in signing off the projects. The announcement also confirms South Africa’s commitment to the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Program. The signing will pave the way for R59.8bn in infrastructure investment to flow into the country.
