Equator Energy commissions 10MW solar plant at Mombasa Cement Vipingo in Kenya

News flash

  • Equator Energy has successfully commissioned a 10MW solar plant at Mombasa Cement’s Vipingo facility under a long-term power purchase agreement. 
  • The solar plant is set to reduce Mombasa Cement’s Vipingo facility reliance on the national grid, deliver significant cost savings for company and cut daytime emissions.  

Equator Energy is backed by IBL Energy, French impact fund STOA and Inspired Evolution. The project created 100 construction jobs, 15 permanent positions, and supported the Vipingo community through local procurement and social initiatives.
