20MW Solar PV EPC Tender Announced in Malawi

  • The project will require Tier 1 PV panels mounted on single axes trackers with string inverters.
  • The EPC will also be responsible for the construction of a 400-meter 33 kV or 132 kV transmission line plus substation connection.

JCM Matswani Solar Corp Limited, an independent power producer in Malawi, has called for expressions of interests to EPC’s for the construction of a 20MW solar PV plant in Golomoti, central Malawi.

The project will require Tier 1 PV panels mounted on single axes trackers with string inverters. The EPC will also be responsible for the construction of a 400-meter 33 kV or 132 kV transmission line plus substation connection.

The power offtaker is the Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi Limited (ESCOM) under a long-term PPA. The facility will be owned and operated by ProjectCo, a special purpose vehicle formed by JCM Power and UK-based infrastructure project development and funding services company InfraCo Africa, which focuses on sub-Saharan Africa.

JCM Matswani Solar Corp Limited intends to shortlist up to five bidders in the first stage. The deadline for submission of expressions of interest is the 6th May 2019. The shortlisted contractors will be announced a week later.
