The publication note can be retrieved from the local newspapers ‘New Vision’ issue Thursday 9th August 2018, page 30, and from the Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI). Ugandan Rural Electrification Agency (REA) is responsible for the tender and all tender requests and clarifications must be addressed to the REA address in the notification.
The project is financed by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development under the German Climate Technology Initiative plus REA. The project is implemented by GIZ Uganda along with the Ugandan Ministry of Energy and Minerals, the regulator (ERA) and REA. The objective is to attract private investments into decentralised renewable energy projects in the country.
The bidding process will be based on a price per kilowatt hour submission. The winning bidder will be granted a concession for the operation of a publicly subsidized mini-grid in up to 15 villages encapsulating all required agreements, contracts, approved tariffs plus terms and conditions. The current announcement does not specify whether the land has been pre-secured for each project.
