- The Central Electricity Board (CEB) and CEB (Green Energy) Co. Ltd., installed the 1000th solar home kit in Souillac, Mauritius last month.
- The milestone was celebrated by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Energy and Utilities, Mr. Ivan Collendavelloo in a ceremony held yesterday in Brise de Mer in Souillac.
The project, launched in March 2018, includes the installation of photovoltaic kits on the roofs of 10,000 households of vulnerable people. This is part of the government’s efforts to reduce poverty while contributing to the national target of 35% renewable electricity in the energy mix by 2025.
The project will be extended over a period of five years and will be implemented in phases. To ensure a better geographic distribution, the 10,000 photovoltaic kits will be installed in all regions of Mauritius and Rodrigues.
Funding for the project (US 10 million) was provided in the form of a loan from the Abu Dhabi Development Fund and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA ). Read more
